You might not guess from the title, but you can certainly guess from the cover art that this post-apocalyptic series stars a group of dogs.  The title comes from the lead character, a dog named Legend.  This first issue of this series established the world and a visit to the cats in issue #2 establishes the motivation that will drive the series.  Find and stop the Endark.

Co-Creators Samuel Sattin (writer) and Chris Koehler (artist/colorist) have created an intriguing world devoid of humans (so far), but I’m guessing it won’t stay that way for long.  In this issue we get the first glimpse of how things went sideways for humanity, as told by a cat who witnessed it.  It’s no surprise that cats have one up on the dogs.  I’m a “dog person” and have always preferred canines, but for all their loyalty and valor, I have to give it to those shifty, aloof felines, they always seem to know what’s going on and seem to feel just a little superior about it.  Dog/cat stereotypes aside, or maybe because of them, I really enjoyed the interactions between the dogs and cats in this issue.  Legend and his group have the next objective on their quest, find the wise hawk named Oz, and it’s nice to see a wise bird NOT being an owl for a change…

Do you like stories featuring non-anthropomorphized animals?   Are you a dog lover?  One or both and this is well worth checking out.  Will it change your life?  Probably not, but I quite enjoyed it and it has a spot on my pull list.  I look forward to joining Legend and his pack on their quest, hopefully the series will develop a strong enough following that  it will continue long enough for the story to be told.
