Forever Evil: A.R.G.U.S. #2 (DC)

FE Argus2

Rating: 3/5  – Let’s LIGHT up the party!

Forever Evil: A.R.G.U.S. isn’t a necessity, but sure is a good extra look at the Forever Evil world and its effect on the A.R.G.U.S. agents I love to hate.

Bad-ass President saving? Check.
Deathstroke? Check.
Dr. Light? Check.
Ridiculous plot hole? OF COURSE! What did you expect when you have Steve Trevor fighting 3 Secret Society villains?

Okay, okay. I must admit, I really enjoyed reading this comic book. A great combination of good and interesting storytelling combined with good art makes for a great read.

The second issue of Forever Evil: A.R.G.U.S. mainly revolves around Steve Trevor rescuing President “not Barack Obama” while fighting Deathstroke who wants the President for the Secret Society.   Dr. Light somehow returns and the story kicks into gear.

Here is the big problem with the book: Deathstroke is doing a very sensitive job for the Secret Society and Steve Trevor fights him. I don’t have a problem with that, but since this job is very important, why isn’t Ultraman doing it? And if you already sent 4 villains to do your dirty work you’d think they could hold their ground against 3 ARGUS agents.

But that’s where the problem ends. Even though that problem bothered me as long as I read it- the great writing made up for it. It kept me interested even when it didn’t make any sense.

I can’t help but think about future issues because this issue is setting up so much I’m hoping it will end up delivering as the series goes on. Probably what I want most from the series is Dr. Light.    We also get a visit from a surprise villain who we last saw in a Villain Month one shot making it clear that they were NOT a fan of the Secret Society.  Could they become an ally to A.R.G.U.S.?  I have a feeling some interesting stuff is going to spin out of this.
